My Final Farewell

On October 13, 2012, my friend, and my cousin, Melanie Crystal Olien, was taken from me. Her life was ended tragically when the vehicle she was travelling in left the road and collided with a tree. Being rushed to the Hospital For Sick Children in Downtown Toronto, she later succumbed to her injuries that she sustained in the crash.
Her life, ended at just 14 years of age, has struck a cord with so many, whether they are friends, family, or complete strangers that have heard of this tragedy.
The young girl that could get anyone to smile, who projected a sense of happiness, innocence and love has been taken from all our lives far too early. Far too quickly did it happen.

No parent should ever have to experience the pain, the loss, and the heartbreak of losing one of their children, an extension of their soul, their life and their being.
An anguish and pain that time cannot ever heal, nor can it ever fill the void that will be forever left by the loss of someone so bright, and so wonderful.

For this Melanie, Mel, you will forever be remembered and loved, cherished, and never forgotten. You will remain a "Diamond In The Sky". The world is a sadder, emptier place without you.
No longer will I hear that laugh, and see your bright smile at family get togethers. Your beautiful radiance and loving nature will be missed by everyone, as you have not only touched so many lives, your absence now will leave a void that time can never heal.

Your affinity with animals, with nature, and with everyone is a gift that is so sad to have lost in this world, that it is a great loss for everyone.
May you now rest in peace, sweet child. Your message has been heard by hundreds, but your life, your story, and your passion has touched thousands.

Today, October the 20th, 2012, I have said my final good-bye. I have made peace with those that took you away, and I now realize how large a hole you being taken from us will leave in my heart, and my soul.
Life is far too short to feel the loss that we do today, and will feel in the many years to come, but we shall forever remember your smile, your radiance, your humour, spirit, and laughter. Your memories will fill our hearts with happiness and warmth.

This is my dedication to you Melanie.. My final farewell..

You may rest now.. Your battle has ended.. Your life, story, and memories shall forever live on in all of us..
All my love to you Melanie.. I shall miss you now, and always.

If we could have a lifetime wish
A dream that would come true,
We'd pray to God with all our hearts
For yesterday and You.
A thousand words can't bring you back
We know because we've tried...
Neither will a thousand tears
We know because we've cried...
You left behind our broken hearts
And happy memories too...
But we never wanted memories
We only wanted You.

May you rest in Peace Melanie...
